Numerology
Life path number, expression, soul urge - the core numerology portrait from a birth date. Embeddable domain-locked widget, mobile-responsive.

Numerology starts with one premise: the numbers in your birth date and name aren't arbitrary - they form a pattern that can be read. The core calculation gives you your Life Path number, derived from your full birth date reduced to a single digit (1-9) or a master number (11, 22, 33). That number describes your fundamental orientation in life - not your personality in its full complexity, but the underlying current you were born moving with.
How it works
Enter your full birth date. The calculator generates your Life Path number, your Expression number (from your full name), your Soul Urge number (from the vowels in your name), and your Personality number (from the consonants). Each appears with its interpretation. The full name calculation uses the standard Pythagorean letter-to-number system (A=1, B=2, C=3... I=9, then repeating).
Understanding your result
Each number carries a distinct quality: 1 is initiative and independence; 2 is partnership and diplomacy; 3 is expression and creativity; 4 is structure and endurance; 5 is change and freedom; 6 is responsibility and nurturing; 7 is analysis and solitude; 8 is power and material mastery; 9 is completion and service. Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 operate at higher intensity versions of 2, 4, and 6 respectively - they carry amplified potential and amplified challenge. Your numbers don't cancel each other out - they layer.
Frequently asked questions
Which birth date do I use - Gregorian or another calendar?
The Pythagorean numerology system used here works with the Gregorian calendar date - the date on your birth certificate.
Do I use my legal name or the name I actually go by?
Traditional numerology uses the full legal name at birth. The name you use daily creates what's called a 'use name' or 'active name' reading, which some practitioners calculate separately.
Is this the same as the Pythagorean grid (matrix)?
Related but different. The Life Path calculation here uses digit reduction to a single number. The Pythagorean grid (also available on Esotier) preserves all digits and their frequency - more detailed, different structure.
Can my number change?
Your Life Path number is fixed - it comes from your birth date. Your Expression number could technically change if you legally change your name. Your day-to-day numerological influences do cycle - that's personal year number territory.
